Our land, of just over an acre, has been known as 'Le Pommier' (the Apple Tree) since the administration of Napoleon, presumably due to an apple tree located on the site. Unfortunately, our own apple trees are rather pathetic, but we are attempting to renovate them - with dubious success. But there are still fields of apples being grown just up the road, on cordons rather than trees.
